What Kind of Flour for Macrobiotic Diet

Whole Grain Flour and Macrobiotics

The Macrobiotic Diet, or Macrobiotics, is low fat, high fiber, and plant based. Research suggests it may reduce chances of getting heart disease and certain cancers. Macrobiotics is a holistic lifestyle all about achieving balance. Along with the diet, Macrobiotics recommends expressing gratitude for food, chewing food at least 50 times, and staying active and positive. While all types of flour (except all-purpose flour) are acceptable in small amounts as part of Macrobiotics, whole grain and bean-based flours are best, including:

  • Whole grain wheat flour
  • Brown rice flour
  • Barley flour
  • Millet flour
  • Oat flour
  • Corn flour
  • Rye flour
  • Buckwheat flour
  • Chickpea flour

With the Lee Household Flour Mill, you can ensure your bread and other baked goods have the best ingredients.

What Can You Eat on a Macrobiotic Diet?

On the Macrobiotic Diet, you can eat as much as you want two or three times a day until you are satisfied but not yet full. Your daily diet should consist of:

In addition, you can eat fish, seafood, fruit, and nuts a few times a week.

  • Tropical fruits
  • Fruit juice
  • Asparagus
  • Eggplant
