What Kind of Flour for the Fast Diet

Types of Flour for the Fast Diet

The Fast Diet, sometimes called the 5:2 diet or intermittent fasting, consists of five days of normal eating and two days of fasting or reduced calories (500 calories for women and 600 for men) every week. The dieter chooses which two days to fast.

Since the Fast Diet is based on calorie intake rather than the types of food you eat, any type of flour is acceptable. While all types of flour are compatible with the Fast Diet, those with the lowest calories per cup include:

What to Eat on the Fast Diet

On the five non-fast days, you can eat anything you normally eat. On the two fast days, foods with high protein and fiber are recommended to make you feel satiated:

  • Fish
  • Meat
  • Vegetables

For a snack, try almonds, carrot sticks, celery sticks, or apple slices. Limit your drinks to no calorie or low calorie beverages. Coffee or tea with or without milk are low calorie, and milk is high protein, low carb. Alcohol is not recommended.

To prevent having too many calories on fast days, avoid foods with refined carbs and sugar, such as:

  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Potatoes
